Eagles' Jordan charged with misdemeanor assault in hometown

Eagles linebacker Akeem Jordan, who started three games for Philadelphia last season, was arrested early Sunday in his hometown of Harrisonburg, Va., and charged with misdemeanor assault and battery, The Daily News-Record reported Monday.

According to the Harrisonburg Police Department, the incident occurred in the parking lot of the Firetap Bar and Grill. Jordan, 25, was released on his own recognizance Monday.

"They got into a verbal altercation, which led to a physical disorderly incident," police spokeswomen Mary-Hope Vass told the Philadelphia Daily News. "The incident was reported to us on Sunday afternoon. The victim went to the magistrate and obtained the warrant. Jordan turned himself in Sunday without any issues."

She said the victim's condition is "nothing life-threatening."

Jordan's agent, Dr. Lynn Lashbrook, told the Daily News, "It's always unfortunate when these things happen. Circumstances happen, but I'm confident it will be figured out.

"He is cooperating fully. Getting into the details doesn't help anybody; it impedes the process. I stand behind the kid 100 percent. He's a first-class kid, but you always wish these things never happen. He's got a great track record as a citizen."

The Eagles are aware of the incident, but a team spokesman told the Daily News the club would not have a comment.

Jordan is a fifth-year pro who played collegiately at James Madison University. He started 10 games during the 2009 season, his best statistically in the NFL. That year, he had 71 tackles and two interceptions.

Marshall's wife charged with violating restraining order

The wife of Brandon Marshall has returned to jail after allegedly violating a restraining order issued after an April incident in which police say she stabbed the Miami Dolphins wide receiver.

Michi Nogami-Marshall was arrested Friday after a "verbal dispute" at the couple's home in Southwest Ranches, Fla., according to the Broward County Sheriff's Office arrest report, CBS4 Miami reported.

The Sheriff's Office reported that deputies responded to a 911 hang-up at the couple's home Friday morning. Despite a protection order requiring her to stay at least 500 feet from the home, Nogami-Marshall, 27, told deputies she had been living there while Marshall was out of town. When Marshall returned, an argument occurred, followed by the 911 call.

There was no sign of physical violence, deputies said.

“Clearly, the arrest today -- based on her actions, she had to be taken into custody because she violated a court order,” Broward Sheriff's spokeswoman Veda Coleman-Wright told CBS4 Miami.

Nogami-Marshall was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after she allegedly stabbed her husband in the stomach with a kitchen knife on April 22. According to the arrest report, she admitted stabbing Marshall but said it was in self-defense. The Broward State Attorney's Office said in a statement that it was still investigating the incident.

Neither Marshall, who required surgery and was in intensive care following the April incident, nor his wife were cooperative Friday, Coleman-Wright said, and the Attorney's Office said investigators have encountered difficulty as they pursue the case.

"Despite numerous efforts, we so far have been unable to get Mr. Marshall to agree to voluntarily speak to our office about the incident," the Attorney's Office said in a statement. "We continue to diligently pursue this matter.”

Marshall initially claimed he suffered his stomach wound when he slipped and fell onto a broken glass vase, but the police report noted that there was "no blood within the immediate area to substantiate his claim."

The statement reads in part: “Despite numerous efforts, we so far have been unable to get Mr. Marshall to agree to voluntarily speak to our office about the incident. We continue to diligently pursue this matter.”

Marshall, who signed a five-year, $50 million contract last year after four seasons with the Denver Broncos, caught 86 passes for 1,014 yards in 14 games with the Dolphins last season.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Ravens rookie Kindle arrested, charged with drunken driving

JESSUP, Md. -- Baltimore Ravens rookie linebacker Sergio Kindle was arrested early Sunday on drunken driving charges, court records show.

Kindle, 23, was pulled over shortly after 4 a.m. Sunday in the Jessup area. He was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding and related offenses and was freed on $10,000 bond.

"I haven't talked to the team yet, but I spoke with one of the security guards," Kindle said in a telephone interview. "First and foremost, I would apologize. I don't want to put the organization's name in a negative light due to my actions. I don't know what's going to happen or how they're going to handle that."

Asked how much he had to drink, Kindle said: "It wasn't much, but I guess it was enough. I guess it was enough for me to fail a Breathalyzer. It was over the limit."

Ravens officials were traveling back from Sunday's victory over Cleveland and weren't immediately available to comment.

Kindle, a second-round draft pick, hasn't suited up for the Ravens this year. The former University of Texas star fractured his skull after falling down two flights of stairs in late July at a friend's house in Austin, Texas. He revealed last week that doctors told him he might be forced to sit out next season as well.

Kindle was signed to a one-year, $320,000 contract with no signing bonus or incentives and placed on the reserve non-football injury list. The Ravens could tender him or allow him to become a free agent next year.

He had off-field incidents at Texas, including crashing his car into an apartment building when he said he was texting while driving.
