The NFL confirmed Thursday that it has fined Detroit Lions wide receiver Nate Burleson $15,000 for two incidents during last weekend's 44-6 rout of the St. Louis Rams.
Burleson told the Detroit Free Press that the levy was for kicking a ball into the stands after a third-quarter touchdown and for lifting his jersey to reveal the message "What up Doe" -- a reference to Detroit -- on his undershirt during pregame introductions.
"They were kind of rough on me," Burleson said of the NFL. "They got me."
The kick cost the Lions a 15-yard penalty.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.
