There is no Randy Moss-to-Minnesota trade looming, CSNNE.com Patriots Insider Tom E. Curran reports. According to two Patriots sources and Vikings head coach Brad Childress, the Patriots big-name receiver will not be dealt back to the team that drafted him in 1998.
Earlier, Jay Glazer of Foxsports.com reported via Twitter that Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss was "clode" to being traded to the Minnesota Vikings. The assumption was that "clode" was a typo and the Patriots' big name receiver was close to being dealt.
The rumor was first tweeted by ESPN's Bill Simmons. Simmons later deleted the tweet and said it was meant to be a direct message -- a private message sent to another Twitter user.
"Sorry that last tweet was supposed to be a DM," Simmons tweeted. "Rumors swirling about a Pats-Minny trade for Randy Moss."
Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald later tweeted: "After Week 1, Randy Moss had his agent Joel Segal call Bill Belichick and ask for a trade, The Herald's Karen Guregian has learned."
The Vikings were major players in trying to acquire San Diego Chargers wideout Vincent Jackson earlier this season but could not work out a deal.
More to come.
